Standard Shades

Standard shades have shade fabric attached to the back of the head rail, placing the shade closer to the window to allow more privacy and light blocking. Standard shades include a 6" valance on the front of the shade to hide the shade components.

Waterfall shades have shade fabric attached to the front of the head rail, creating a continuous fabric panel. Waterfall shades have shade fabric further away from the window, which may increase light leak on both sides of the shade.

No Liner

Unlined shades allow the most light. Many fabrics have an open weave that will not allow much privacy without a liner.

Light-Filtering Liner

Light-filtering fabrics allow light to pass through the shade with added privacy.

Room-Darkening Liner

Room-darkening liners do not allow light to pass through the shade.

Natural Shades Edge Finish

No Edge Binding

Shades finished without edge binding allow the natural weave to be fully visible. Fabrics with loose weaves may fray.

Edge Binding

Edge binding adds a finished trim along the sides of the shade to help protect delicate edges and reduce fraying.
